I took this photograph while hiking in the summer of 2003. The rhododendron blossoms had just fallen from the surrounding cliffs.
Its the first photo I liked well enough to hang on the wall.
In 2005, while hiking this same trail, I met a guy.
He proposed three years later- while hiking the Cascades.
I really didn't have much choice when deciding what to name my business.
Cascades Photography is a labor of love
When a flower girl asked me: "Why are you a photographer?" the logical part of my brain responded (to a rather bewildered 8-year-old): "I'm not a photographer. I'm a research analyst." Then (realizing she couldn't possibly care) continued: "but I take pictures because I like to freeze little moments of time so that I can remember them later." It was an off-the-top-of-my-head comment that has stuck with me.
I like to take pictures for others to help them treasure their own special moments. This is something we do for joy, not because its pays rent. Take a look at some of our work. My partner and best friend, he's also pretty durn good behind the camera.
He's often found standing behind my shoulder trying to make you smile a real smile or chasing after your speedy toddler...again.
